We are all familiar with the idea of labeling someone’s traits as either a red flag or a green flag. While everyone has their own definition of what belongs in each category, the general concept is understood. Red flags represent negative qualities someone might exhibit—like only communicating via Snapchat, drinking alcohol every night, or being a KU fan. On the other hand, green flags represent the positive qualities someone shows, such as asking for your phone number, actually studying, or being a K-State fan.
While most qualities fit into one of these categories, some traits do not clearly fall into either the “good” or “bad” categories. These are considered beige flags.
A beige flag is when someone does something that makes you pause for a moment, question it, and then move on with your day. Examples of beige flags include constantly talking loudly, needing coffee to function, or having raging OCD.
If you are a person considered to have many beige flags, do not worry about it. The truth is many people believe that that is better than being a walking red flag and makes you have more quirks than a walking green flag.
