What if I told you that whatever you wanted, you could have?
Did something come to mind? You may feel like it’s out of reach, but hopefully I can show you that manifesting something new into your life is possible.
This might sound a little hippie-dippie, but stick with me for a minute, and you might leave with a different attitude. That’s the goal, anyway. An attitude change is the first step.

The Law of Attraction is the idea that like attracts like. Everything in the universe operates at a specific vibration, and similar vibrations attract one another. To manifest something into your life using the Law of Attraction, theorists say you must match your vibration to that which you wish to attract.
Most of us have had a day when we felt like we just couldn’t catch a break. You sleep past your alarm, you forget an assignment that was due, and on your way back to your room after a long day, you stub your toe on the dining room table. It’s safe to say you may not have the best attitude after a day like that. But hear me out, what if your attitude was why you didn’t have the best day?
Think about it: if you’ve ever just had a weird feeling that something was going to go wrong, and then, lo and behold, it did, you might know what I’m talking about. According to the Law of Attraction, if you’re thinking negatively about an experience, the experience is going to be negative. If you think positively, the experience will be positive.
It seems straightforward because it is, but shifting your reality can be easier said than done. Deciding to think positively or work toward tricking your brain into believing something it might not yet believe is a difficult task, but it’s one worth working toward if you’re trying to change the direction of your life.
Sound interesting? Here’s how you can use the Law of Attraction to shift your reality:
Admit that it feels silly, and then get over it.
If you don’t consider yourself a “spiritual person,” this part might be the hardest. It’s easy to look at something like manifestation and write it off immediately. You can’t see the thing you want to come to you, but you have to believe it’s there? Yeah, okay. I look at it like this: do you have the thing you want right now? If the answer’s no, what do you have to lose?
Commit to what it is that you want.
Back to that thing you thought of at the beginning of this article, do you still want it? Probably. Whether it’s a college degree, a supportive significant other or a trip to Europe, the Law of Attraction says you can have it. Figure out what it is that you want to attract, then we can get started.
Believe you can have it.
So now, it’s time to check your attitude. Do you want to graduate on time with a 3.5 GPA, but you don’t trust that you can accomplish your goal?
Henry Ford once said, “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t, you’re right.”
By his logic, it would be in all of our best interests to think we can. I’m not here to preach at you to believe in yourself–I mean I kind of am, but there’s more to it than that.

Changing a belief is difficult, especially since most people acknowledge that we can’t decide how we feel. But what we can change is how we think, and from our thoughts, spring our feelings.
This brings us to my next point . . .
Change your inner dialogue (HYPE YOURSELF UP).
Back to the student who wants to graduate but doesn’t believe they can do it. First of all, I feel you, but like I said, we’re working on that. If a student doesn’t think they’re capable of passing a class, they probably won’t study as hard as they should.
What’s the point, right? If they don’t study hard, they won’t do well on their assignments, and if they don’t do well, they won’t pass the class. See what happened there? The student proved themself right, and it all stemmed from that initial negative thought.
However, if this same student told themself they were capable of doing well in class, they would act like it. That student would do their readings, ask questions when they didn’t fully understand and turn in quality work. Working hard, because they believe it will pay off, then pays off in the reflection of their grades. This student, who decided to tell themself they could pass the class, did. Over time, our thoughts and the actions that surround them form our beliefs about the world. If you’ve never been good at frisbee golf, you’re not going to try hard at frisbee golf, so you’re going to continue to suck at frisbee golf. Then your belief that you suck at frisbee golf is so deeply ingrained that you now believe there’s no way you could ever be good.
It’s time to switch up that inner dialogue and tell ourselves, even if we don’t believe it, we can do it. Eventually, we won’t have to lie anymore.
Look forward with gratitude.
Okay. So, you’ve put what you want out there into the world. You’ve been telling yourself you can have it. By now, you might even believe you can. What now?
This might not sit well for some of us, but now it’s time to wait. For the record, this doesn’t mean I’m giving you the license to sit around watching Netflix and expect a brand new car to materialize in your driveway by the time it asks if you’re still watching.

Now, you go out and you work for the money to pay for that car, and while you’re doing it, you operate as if you know it’s coming. As if it’s a guarantee. As if you already have it. I know, I’m asking you to use your imagination again. Sorry. But, if you’ve made it this far, what’s a little more pseudo-psychology in exchange for what you want?
It’s time for some visualization, baby! To align your vibration with that which you want to attract, you have to put yourself in the headspace that you’ve received it. If you want to take a trip to Europe, imagine yourself there. How does it feel walking down the cobblestone streets? What kind of pastry are you going to get from the bakery on the corner? No detail is too small. Once you feel yourself there, hold on to that feeling, and allow yourself to be grateful for what you’re attracting. According to the Law of Attraction, it’s well on its way to you.
Go ahead and try it. Again, what do you have to lose? Once you’ve successfully manifested what you want, rinse and repeat the steps above until you’ve won the lottery, abolished the two-party political system and developed a foolproof COVID-19 vaccine. Easy! Okay, maybe not, but we can dream, right?
A gentle reminder: shifting your mindset is difficult. To manifest your version of a better reality takes time, practice and patience with yourself. When you start to figure it out though, it’s a powerful thing. These are just the basics of what it can look like to shift your reality. Countless ways to use the Law of Attraction float around the internet, and plenty of people are sharing their manifestation success stories. There’s no one right way to do it, as long as you’re staying grateful and raising your vibration.
