Podcasts You Should Be Listening To Right Now

It’s strange to think that just a year ago I wasn’t listening to podcasts at all. Now, they are a daily part of my life. If you see me walking to class, studying at Radinas, or even just hanging out in my dorm I’m usually always listening to something. Lately, I’ve noticed that I am not alone in this recent obsession either. Many of my friends have begun listening to podcasts too and it becomes a great topic of conversation.

The world of podcasting can seem quite overwhelming at first because of the vast variety out there, but luckily for you, I have compiled a list that I think will help you get your feet wet and hopefully inspired to start listening more.

Getting Curious with Jonathan Van Ness

Netflix’s Queer Eye Star Jonathan Van Ness (JVN) deep dives into topics from just about anything under the sun. From climate change to figure skating he is curious about it all and I’m sure you are too. Getting Curious has quickly become one of my weekly favorites due to Ness’s witty humor and incredible guests. I always end his podcasts feeling smarter than I was before.

Tiny Meat Gang

Once Viners turned into pop culture icons, Cody Ko and Noel Miller are the self-made comedy duo known as “Tiny Meat Gang” and yes, it is worth the listen. These guys are hilarious and just wrapped their first successful podcast tour. I’m seriously surprised my abs haven’t come in yet because of how much I laugh from these two. From cringy Youtube videos to the crazy comments you can find under insta-models posts, they are in my opinion the peak of millennial based humor. Definitely give it a listen the next time you need a good laugh.

My Favorite Murder

For all of my true crime junkies, this one is a must! Best friends Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark talk about their favorite murder stories and their fanbase sends in crazy stories of their own as well. So so good!

Phil in the Blanks

Everyone’s favorite daytime television host and “grandfather” figure Dr. Phil, delves into the minds of some of the most interesting and accomplished people in the world. I just started listening to this one and I already love it. Dr. Phil does a great job of connecting with his guests to a point where deep conversations and important topics are spoken about. He is one of the most renowned psychiatrists today, so he definitely knows how to make people feel comfortable and open up just about anything.

Sleep with Me

This podcast is truly one of kind. Listen to bedtime stories that help you tune out the racing thoughts, insomnia, and worries that keep you up at night. Next time you’re having trouble falling asleep, just pop in your headphones and close your eyes as you are transported to a new dreamland in every episode.

Stuff You Missed in History Class

If you’re a big history junkie like myself then this might just be your next big binge of entertainment. Stuff You Missed In History Class highlights different stories, events, and people that your high school history teacher probably never taught you. Secrets of Ancient Greece, forgotten war heroes and stories that will just straight up blow your mind. This podcast is like a treasure chest of forgotten history and there is a new gem every week.

The Science of Happiness

I think it’s safe to say that we all want to be happy. This podcast helps teach you research-tested strategies and tools for a happier, more meaningful life. Focusing on compassion, gratitude, and mindfulness. As someone who struggles with depression, this has definitely been a big help for me and a great reminder to look on the brighter side of things.
